ACE College Credit

The American Council on Education (ACE) evaluates non-traditional college courses and workforce training for college credit worthiness. Roughly 1700 institutions across the nation accept ACE recommended courses for credit. However, Individual colleges have sole discretion as to what courses they will accept for credit, and how many credits they will award.

The Alternative Credit Project (ACP) is a partnership between ACE and 40+ colleges to encourage more acceptance of alternative college credit. These colleges grant credit for no-cost or no cost general education courses across nearly subject areas. Each courses costs $300 or less.

Before taking an ACE-recommended course, always contact the college(s) where a student intends to earn a degree:
  • Learn the specific transfer policies for ACE credit.
  • Learn how the ACE credit would apply toward the degree.
  • Get it all in all documented in writing should any question arise in the future.

Lumerit Education/"Unbound" offers ACE Courses. While it costs more to take ACE courses through Lumerit/Unbound, there is tremendous value in the student life community, academic coaching, and live chat offered. Further, credits earned through Lumerit/Unbound are guaranteed to transfer to specific colleges and universities. Without support from this unique organization, young adults will likely find it difficult to remain motivated to complete ACE courses, and the process of getting credit for them is more challenging.
